Advantages of using the Hytera RD965
The Hytera RD965 is a portable radio repeater, which will increase the range of your radio signal.
As the repeater is portable it is suitable for temporary and emergency communications, such as events and festivals.
In an example scenario, the Rd965 repeater will receive a weak signal from one of your handheld or mobile digital radios, such as the Hytera PD405 handheld radio.
The repeater will benefit your communications range by receiving the weak signal, and simultaneously re-broadcasting it as a stronger signal.
Imagine that there is a hill in between two of your handheld or mobile radios.
The hill could prevent the radio signal that is being transmitted by one radio, being received by the other radio.
This is because objects such as hills and lots of buildings, attenuate (reduce) or totally block the radio signal.
The solution for temporary communications would be for someone to be at the top of the hill with a portable Hytera RD965 digital repeater.
In this scenario, the signal would be able to be received by the sender on one side of the hill, and rebroadcast to the receiver on the other side of the hill.
At frequencies above 30Mhz, radio waves normally travel in a ‘line of sight’ way, in straight lines
The hill would prevent line of sight, but having a repeater on the top, would allow the sending radio to ‘see’ the repeater, and for the repeater to ‘see’ the receiving radio.
