Wrong length antenna
I have just been looking out of the window & saw a local taxi go past with an aerial (antenna) on it that must have been 1.5 metres long.
Size is important for antennas for radio communications due to something called ‘resonant frequency’ which basically means that to get the best performance from your two way radio system, the aerial / antenna should be cut to the correct length for the radio frequency that the equipment is operating on.
Incorrect antenna length leads to less than optimal performance & can even damage your equipment, due to what is known as ‘reflected power’ which is a result of a high VSWR, caused by incorrect antenna (aerial) length.
This applies to all wireless communication systems.
